Extremely rare antique Chinese hand painted porcelain and brass opium lamp. The lamp base is made of porcelain and hand painted with flowers, vines and two colourful butterflies. The brass mount is stamped with longevity symbols on the base and on the shoulder. The brass mount on the base of the dome glass cover has pierced design.

The height of the lamp is made to accommodate an opium pipe while a smoker is lying down. Placing the pipe bowl over the dome glass slowly warmed the opium thus the smoker can smoke the. China banned opium smoking in the.
