Extremely Rare Beanie Baby 1996 Claude the Crab PVC pellets without STAR M/NMT

This Claude the Crab has been in my collection for almost 25 years and is in excellent all around condition. He has a 1996 hang tag and 1996 tush tag as well. His tush tag doesnt have a star above the heart which is consistent on a generation 3 tush tag, but no way a 1996 could or should have a Gen 3 tag and alone makes him extremely rare and collectible. Secondly his name on the inside of the hang tag is in all CAPITOL letters which up until now has only ever been seen in Canada, but he doesnt have a Canadian tush tag to back that, and again makes him even more rare. Other then that he is flawless and really rare.

The fact that he was made with P. V/C/ pellets and Fareham, Hants is printed inside his hang tag are both indicators that he is a really early and 1st and limited edition.

This one is definitely a perfect addition to a serious collectors collection. There is alot of them out there with common errors, but this one is really 1 of 1 and not another like him. Claude is made from a blue, green and orange tie-dyed material with a white underside.

He has black button eyes and two black thread antennae. He has eight legs and two large pincers. His birthday is on 3rd September 1996.

Occasionally, Claude is seen with the wrong name on the tush tag. Some of the names that have been spotted are Inky, Snowball, Weenie, Digger and Legs.

One some of the swing tags, Claude's name is in capital letters. These have only been seen in Canada. On 14th March 1999, Claude was given out to season ticket holders who attended the basketball game between the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers. Claude was retired on 31st December 1998.
